Black Barn Retreat is a two-bedroom ensuited retreat in the heart of the vineyard. Soaring ceilings and a generous open kitchen, dining and living space open out onto a generous terrace for dining and relaxing looking out over the vines. It is a short walk down Black Barn Road to the Cellar Door and Bistro.
And if you are with us in summer it is an even shorter walk down through the vines to the Black Barn Market on Saturday mornings. That’s where you’ll also find the tennis court available at any time for your use.

Location
Black Barn Retreat is located right in the heart of the Vineyard. Surrounded by grapes, almond trees, olive trees and citrus, it looks out from its slight rise above the vines to a vista that stretches right across the beautiful province of Hawke's Bay. It looks from the snowcapped mountains in the west to the ocean and river valleys in the east. Black Barn Retreat is just 30 minutes from Napier Airport, 10 minutes from the city of Hastings and just 5 minutes from the quaint and historic village of Havelock North. It is set right in the heart of New Zealand's premier wine region and many of New Zealand's most famous wine names are literally on your doorstep. Beautiful beaches, golf courses, trout fishing rivers and shopping are all just minutes away.
Attractions
Many people who stay at Black Barn Retreat simply don't want to leave the property. You are surrounded by several acres of vines and a working vineyard. You are welcome to treat the vineyard as 'your own' while you are staying with us and everything from artichokes to fresh figs to almonds to citrus can be gathered from the property depending on the time of year you are with us.
When you are with us, the Cellar Door is just a five-minute walk and the team can advise you on the location of the best beaches, golf courses, swimming pools and attractions. We can also organise winery tours, guided fishing trips to some of New Zealand's best trout fishing rivers and we can also organise to have fully catered meals prepared and presented at your retreat if you wish. Bookings cancelled prior to 90 days from arrival the 40% deposit is refunded in full.
Bookings cancelled between 90 and 30 days of arrival the 40% deposit is refunded less the $250 booking fee.
Bookings cancelled within 30 days of arrival 100% of total is charged.

Black Barn Bistro is within a 5 minute walk, Craggy Range and Havelock North restaurants and cafes all within a 5 minute drive. Go a little further afield to Hastings or Napier for more!
Tuki Tuki river access is just a 5 minute drive or easy 20 minute walk away.
Ocean Beach is a 20 minute drive and Waimarama Beach a little further being 30 minutes away.
